How gorgeous is she?? In Indian-American designer Naeem Khan, Michelle Obama and the man she's married to (oh yeah, he's the president of the United States, right?) hosted a curry dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur. But I'm not here to talk politics (even though I love the First Family and would gladly give up hours to ramble about them.)
I love that Khan is a relatively little-known designer, proving that Madame Obama's epic choice of Jason Wu for her GORGEOUS Inauguration Ball gown was not just a fluke, but legitimate proof that the First Lady is actually interested in the welfare of "artisan" labels. And that's something that speaks volumes about the sort of woman she is.
But let's talk for a minute about that dress. God. I've never seen her so elegant. She just exudes confidence and grace, and while the dress isn't personally my style, it suits her exceptionally well.
Here's something I found quite interesting from Shine at Yahoo.com. A quote from Jennifer Romolini: "Tonight's look may mark a sartorial departure for Mrs. Obama, a shift into more sophisticated, luxurious, and regal attire, rather than the playful, accessible, less-polished clothing she's worn thus far."
... Can Mama 'Bama please not? Please? I've completely loved her choices of Proenza Schouler, Thakoon, J. Crew and of course Jason Wu (I personally prefer the yellow dress under the Michael Kors jacket to her famous IBG, but that's just a matter of taste.)
I think she looked beautiful at the state dinner. Probably the most beautiful she's looked yet. And I'm (almost) as intrigued by her as I am by her husband. Almost.
Stylish musings with a side order of apple chunks.
